Sticky catchfly prefers dry, sandy soil and full sun. Blooms in June with deep purple flowers. The name comes from sticky secretion that covers the stems and helps to keep insects from climbing to flowers. Can be grown in flower-bed, but in too fertile soil grows very tall and the color is paler. In a suitable place propagates readily from seeds.

Height 20-40cm in natural habitat, up to 80cm in fertile soil.

Suitable for dry, sunny meadows, flower-beds and as lawn border.

Seeds can be sown from April to September. Seeds are very small so for more even sowing these should be mixed with sawdust, peat or similar substance. Seeds germinate quickly, plants will flower in next year.
