Umbrella magnolia (Magnolia tripetala)

Umbrella magnolia (umbrella tree) grows in eastern part of North America. Can grow up to 15m tall. Leaves are intense green, clustered at the tips of the branches (hence the name referring to the umbrella).

Umbrella magnolia is deciduous. Flowers in May or June with large white flowers, each 15-25cm in diameter.

It grows pretty well in Estonia but young plants need covering in winder. Prefers fertile soil and cover from northern winds.
