Austrian pine (Pinus nigra)

Austrian pine grows in mountainous areas of Southern Europe. Up to 50m tall tree, important in forestry.

It is very decorative because of its long (up to 15cm) dark-green needles. The bark is grayish.

Austrian pine can be planted as a single tree or in a small group. Needs full light. Grows well in Estonia, but young trees should be protected against elks and row deers.
