Perfoliate honeysuckle is 3-8m tall vigorous climber. It is native in Southern Europe but widely grown in gardens everywhere.

It tolerates shade but blooms only in sunlight. Large flowers are clustered at the top of stems, usually creamy white, sometimes with light red stripes. The flowers are very fragrant at nighttime (they are pollinated by moths).

In Estonia winter-hardy. Prefers fertile soil.

Honeysuckle climbs by twisting around support, so it should not be planted near young trees as the strong stems can strangle the support plant.
