Epaulette tree (Pterostyrax hispidus)

Tall shrub (up to 6m) from mountainous forests of China and Japan. Papery leaves are elliptic and intense green.

Flowers in June with large pure white clusters of flowers. Very fragrant.

Needs fertile soil and protection from Northern winds. Although tolerates semi-shade, flowers more in full sun.
