Beautiful, up tp 1 m high perennial plant, grows in damp grasslands and meadows. Its lovely deep-blue flowers with yellow stamens delight us from June to September.
Prefers moderately moist, well-drained soils and rather part shade than direct sunlight, which may damage the foliage. Leaves are bright green, fern-like divided.
Is suitable for beds and borders, cottage gardens.
Spreads with seeds or can be divided in early spring.
Jacob's-ladder has been used as a medicinal herb since ancient Greek. Two centuries ago, it was used as a widespread remedy for rabies in Europe.
